  Five Year Timber Harvesting Schedule

The Cass County Land Department has released drafts of High Conservation Value Forest, representative sample areas, and the five year timber harvesting schedule for review and comment by the public.

In order to offer the public adequate opportunity to comment upon the drafts, two public forums will be held. The first will be Monday November 27, 2006 in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room in the Cass County Courthouse in Walker. The second will be held Wednesday November 29, 2006 at The Warehouse Community Center in Pine River (307 Norway Avenue). Both events begin with an open house at 6:30 p.m. at which the public may review maps and background information and talk informally with county staff. Each night the public forum begins at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m. The format of each session is the same. It is not necessary for people to attend both.

If you cannot attend the forums, you may submit comments to the Cass County Land Department at PO Box 25, Backus, MN 56435 or by E-Mail at cassland@tds.net (please put “comments on drafts” as the subject on your E-Mails). The review period closes on December 11, 2006. Comments will be considered by the Natural Resources Advisory Committee and County staff. If you have any questions, please call the Land Department at 218-947-3338.
