Veterans Employment RepresentativesVeterans Employment Representatives Veterans applying for services through the Minnesota Job Service will be given special consideration for job referral and other programs. Each job service office has a veterans employment representative (VER) to assist veterans with their employment related needs. The VER will ensure that priority consideration be given to all veteran job applicants for job openings and programs that we work with. The VER will try to help keep you informed regarding new or revised employment programs. Veterans with questions or needing special assistance are encouraged to contact your nearest veterans employment representative for an appointment.

Veterans Reemployment Rights Veterans and reservists returning from initial active duty have a right to return to the job they left to enter the armed forces and are entitled to benefits and status they would have had if they had not been away. The VER can assist you with reemployment rights questions. Civil Service Preference Points When applying for federal or state government positions, veterans are normally given additional preference points, usually 10 or 15 points. The VER will explain the procedure for applying for civil service jobs and preference points. Veterans can also contact Clint Bucher at the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs for assistance with Veterans Preference issues.
