Fees and Instructions
The fee for a marriage license is $115.00 without premarital education and $40.00 with a completed Statement of Premarital Education form. (For requirements, see the Statement of Premarital Education.) The marriage license fee is non-refundable.

A marriage license may be obtained in any county in Minnesota, and may be used in any county in Minnesota. The record of marriage will only be on file in the county in which the application was made. In Cass County, the method of payment is cash only. No checks or credit cards are accepted for this fee.

Both applicants should apply in person. However, if one of the parties cannot appear in person, a supplemental application must be completed by the non-appearing marriage applicant. There is a five (5) calendar day waiting period. The license must be used within six (6) months from date of issuance.
